Current Gallery: lighthousesnorthwest ( piece)
This photo gallery is dedicated to the great lighthouses of the Pacific Northwest of the United States and those who love them as I do. Lighthouses were crucial to the history of this region because of the dangers posed by the many rocky shores, submerged shoals and rocks, feirce storms, and blinding fogs. Each has it's own personality and story to tell. When photographing these historic gems I try to capture the mood and setting as well as the structure, to me it is much like portraiture. The heart of an active lighthouse is the light so I often shoot at dawn or dusk to show the light to better affect.
