Cyrus K Holliday Private Rail Car BW Sepia
Cyrus K. Holliday private rail car. Isn't that the life? Kicking back on the back porch of a private railcar, sipping a cocktail, and taking in the views? Colonel Cyrus Kurtz Holliday (April 3, 1826 – March 29, 1900) was one of the founders of the township of Topeka, Kansas, in the mid 19th century and was Adjutant General of Kansas during the American Civil War. The title Colonel, however, was honorary. He was the first president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, as well as one of the railroad's directors for nearly 40 years, up to 1900. A number of railway locomotives have been named after him . This was on the back caboose on the Amtrak coming down from the Moffit tunnel through the continental divide down to Denver Colorado. One of my highlights of the day is the Amtrack train coming through Rollinsville on the way up at about 9:30am and on the way down about 4:30-5:00pm.
