Boulder is at an elevation of 5,400 feet above sea-level, the city is located 30 miles northwest of the Colorado state capital of Denver. Boulder is home to the main campus of the University of Colorado, the state's largest university. In January 2010, Boulder was named one of the Top 25 Destinations in the U.S. according to TripAdvisor. Lonely Planet has named Boulder the #7 Top US Travel Destination for 2012. (December 2011). In 2010, Boulder was named one of America's Nine Best College Towns by IndependentTraveler.com and one of the Top 12 Best College Football Towns by the Associated Press. Boulder has nearly 100,000 residents including over 20,000 University of Colorado students. Since 2000, the city's population has grown an average of 0.5% each year and is expected to grow to 118,500 by 2030. Boulder also home to one of IBM's largest and greenest data centers in North America. Opened in 2008, the 115,000-square-foot facility was designed to significantly reduce energy costs and is part of IBM's Project Big Green. Boulder has more than 30 art galleries and has been recognized as one of the nation's top cities for art by American Style magazine. The city is also home to four museums, 32 movie and stage theaters, and an impressive variety of cultural performances and events.
