From High Above
A scenic view gazing to the east of Scottsdale Arizona city lights as lightning is striking from high above clouds with all it's might to the desert floor hitting over the McDowell Mountains hitting in the Fountain Hills area. Lightning reaches 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit, fours times as hot as the sun"s surface. When lightning strikes the ground it seeks out the shortest route to something with a positive charge, this might be a tree, a tall building or if they're very unlucky, a person. The average lightning strike is six miles long. Photo: © James "Bo" Insogna
