The Praying Monk is a rock formation on the famous Camelback Mountain with lightning filling the sky. This is a shot I worked on for 3 years. Storm 8-22-05 9:48 pm. Phoenix / Scottsdale, Arizona. This was a very scary storm. I chased this one up camelback mountain to this location just under the monk. ( I can not tell you how many times I have been here trying to get this shot and got nothning.) You are pretty high up on camelback and this storm came whipping around the back side of the mountain. Hitting very close by, a lot of static electricity in the air. Not a good sign. Charges were building all over the place. Some really big burst right over head making it very uncomfortable knowing you could be next. Got a few lightning photography images with the Praying monk out of this Storm.
