City Lights Sunrise View From Rollins Pass
A beautiful colorful epic sunrise over the city lights of Boulder Colorado looking out from high up on the Rocky Mountains Rollins Pass and the Continental Divide west of Boulder. Rollins Pass also known as Corona Pass sits approximately 5 miles east and above the popular ski areas around Winter Park, between Winter Park and Rollinsville. The pass is traversed by two unpaved roads, mostly the former roadbed of the Denver and Salt Lake Railway which abandoned the route in 1928 when the Moffat Tunnel opened to replace it. This high altitude railroad was known as the Moffat Road. The Boulder Wagon Road, which predates the rail route, also uses much of Rollins Pass to cross the Continental Divide. This was taken on a photo shoot of stars when I was lucky enough to have a friend take me 4 wheeling in the middle of the night on a new moon of complete darkness almost all the way up to the famous Needle's Eye Tunnel that was replace with the Moffat Tunnel. It was an amazing ride with views looking down shear drop off cliffs that would get anyone heart pumping.
